Living the Gospel: It’s Not Just What We Do, It’s Who We Are
Do you know the gospel?
This question has been on my heart lately. At church, I’ve been reminded recently of how central the gospel is—it’s the core of every sermon, and if you leave a service without hearing it explicitly, that should be a major red flag.
But this isn’t just about church. The same applies to our lives.
Sharing the gospel isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are.
If we’re not following Christ’s command to “go and make fishers of men,” Christianity can start to feel like just one part of our identity rather than the lens through which we see and live our entire lives. The gospel can’t be separate from everything else—it has to shape every aspect of who we are.
When was the last time you shared the gospel? Maybe that’s why you feel stuck or overwhelmed even though you have everything you need as a child of God. We were created to be a light for Christ—not just through actions (though they matter!) but through our words.
Sharing the gospel isn’t just something we do; it’s who we are.
If we’re not following Christ’s command to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15), Christianity can start to feel like just one part of our identity rather than the lens through which we see and live our entire lives. The gospel can’t be separate from everything else—it has to shape every aspect of who we are.
Here’s what I’ve been learning: sharing the gospel doesn’t have to feel like a formal presentation or an awkward conversation. If you’re a child of God, you have a story. And your story is a powerful way to share the gospel.
When someone asks how you’re doing, try responding with what the Lord is doing in your life. When you reflect on how He’s worked in your heart, those moments naturally point back to Him. Sharing the gospel often begins with simply remembering what God has done for you and letting that overflow into your conversations.
But before you can share it, you have to truly know it.
Do you know the gospel? Do you really grasp what Christ did on the cross and what it means for your life? The gospel is the foundation of our faith—the reason we can live with hope, joy, and purpose. It’s the unshakable truth that changes everything.
So, I ask again: do you know the gospel?
I encourage you to come back to it often. Meditate on what Christ has done. Let it shape your words, your actions, and your relationships. Share it every chance you get, and never stop marveling at how it’s transformed your life.
And if you don’t know the gospel, I’d love to share it with you <3
